Loss of Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis

Columbia Alumni Association, Greece announces with great sadness the loss of one of the Club's founding members, Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis, President and Founder of the Biopolitics International Organisation.

In honor and memory, the Club has made a small donation to Columbia University, to causes close to her heart.

Prof. Agni Vlavianos was born in Athens and spent her young adulthood in New York and Paris, studying biology at Columbia University’s Barnard College and working as a teacher and researcher at several prestigious institutions. She returned to Greece in the 1970s where she completed her PhD in molecular biology at the University of Athens and married to Athanasios Arvanitis. In 1985 she created Biopolitics International Organisation with the aim of etching
the climate crisis deep into the popular consciousness.
